CBD FAQs
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are chemicals found in the cannabis plant. There are at least 113 different cannabinoids, the most notable cannabinoid is the phytocannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound in cannabis and Cannabidiol (CBD), one of the most abundant cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant that has been well studied for its effect on human health.
What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a naturally occurring phytocannabinoid found in hemp, and is usually present in the highest concentration. However, it is just one of over a hundred different cannabinoids and phytochemicals found in the hemp plant. CBD is a non-intoxicating component that has a wide range of beneficial properties for mental and physical health. It is non-psychoactive, so it does Not cause a “high”, unlike THC. Research has shown CBD to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety properties. CBD can be used in products like oils, topicals, and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation, calm, and pain relief.

It helps with sleep disorders and insomnia. It is anti-seizure and may reduce acne, skin irritations and eczema.

How does CBD affect our body?
Our bodies are made up of an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that uses naturally occurring endocannabinoids to maintain health and homeostasis. As a phytocannabinoid, CBD works to interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system and promotes a sense of balance and wellness.
What are other compounds found in the hemp plant?
The hemp plant contains over 113 compounds that benefits us differently, such as: CBD, CBD-A, CBN, CBG-A, THC, THC-A, Terpenes and many others.
Will CBD make me high?
No, CBD is not psychoactive. Our products are tested for THC levels below 0.3%, there is no intoxicating or mind-altering (high) effect from taking our products.
What is THC?
THC is short for Tetrahydrocannabinol, a crystalline compound that is the main active ingredient of cannabis. THC is psychoactive, it is the only cannabinoid that gives a sensation of intoxicating affects (getting high) that is often associated with marijuana.
Will CBD show on a drug test?
It depends, if you are using our CBD isolate products, no, they are THC free. Taking a full-spectrum product could cause you to fail a drug test. Our full-spectrum products contain a complete range of hemp extract, including trace amounts of THC (below 0.3%), most drug tests scan for the presence of THC.
Do Lake Life CBD's products contain THC?
Our (99% pure CBD isolate) products do not contain THC. Our Full Spectrum Tinctures contain THC within the federal limit, less than 0.3%.
How do I use CBD isolate?
You can mix your CBD isolate with your favorite foods or drinks or ingest it orally. It can also be added to your personal care and beauty products such as lotions and creams.
What is the difference between CBD isolate and full spectrum?
Full spectrum oil is CBD oil in its most raw form, “crude” oil. It contains fats, waxes, lipids, terpenes, and a range of other cannabinoids such as CBG, CBC, CBN, and THC. Isolate is the purest form of Cannabidiol, it is a highly refined crystalline powder, typically 99.9% CBD with no other plant compounds.
Research has suggested that full-spectrum CBD tinctures may offer advantages over Isolate CBD tinctures. This is because of a phenomenon known as the “entourage effect” – the appearance that CBD works better in the presence of other naturally-occurring hemp compounds, rather than by itself (regardless of potency).
What is CBD distillate?
CBD Distillate is a highly refined cannabis extract. Utilizing a short path system is the most common way to refine crude oil into a higher concentrated form of CBD distillate (typically 70-80%). During the refinement process, fats, waxes, lipids, terpenes, and other cannabinoids are typically removed and what you have left is a very high in purity, golden colored CBD concentrate.
What is CBD crude oil?
CBD “crude” Oil is the material we get from the initial extraction process, it is also referred to as Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO for short. Crude oil is essentially the building block of all CBD products, and can be used just the way it is to create full spectrum products or further refined in many other ways to create distillate and isolate CBD products.
What is CBD Topicals?
CBD topicals are CBD-infused products that are applied directly to the skin. Some examples of CBD topicals are lotions, balms, salves, and creams.
What kind of testing does The Lake Life CBD perform to ensure the quality of their Tincture products?
After the initial extraction and winterization process, we send our “crude” oil (the building block of all CBD products) to a third-party lab to guarantee it is free of contaminants like heavy metals, bacteria, microbial life, mycotoxins and pesticides. The lab also runs a full cannabinoid profile and a residual solvents test, which ensures the CBD content is exactly what is stated on the label and within the legal limits of THC content.
Once we get the all clear from the lab, we then formulate our recipes in small batches. After that, we send a batch sample of that specific retail product one more time to a third- party lab for another cannabinoid profile test (COA) to ensure the CBD content is exactly what is stated on the label and within the legal limits of THC content.
How can I store my CBD? What is the shelf life?
For the best shelf life, keep your CBD product in a cool, dry area and out of direct sunlight. Doing so will help to preserve the hemp extract for as long as possible. If stored properly, CBD oil can have a shelf life of one year.
